Sources of Information
There are many excellent sources of information about skin and its diseases available on the internet. However information provided may not be up to date or may be biased, and is not a substitute for medical advice. If you have any doubts about whether information given applies to you, you should consult your doctor.
The British Association of Dermatologists provides information appropriate to British patients on its website. Outside the UK, there are excellent sources to be found at the American Academy of Dermatology and the New Zealand Dermatological Society. Not all the comments necessarily apply to the United Kingdom, nor can we accept responsibility for the content of external websites.
Beware of claims made for treatments available over the internet. Consult your doctor before taking any new medication, and watch out - at best you may find yourself out of pocket - but "natural" or other non-prescription remedies can still do harm or interact with other treatments.
The Skin Conditions Campaign Scotland provides addresses for many British support groups for patients with dermatological conditions. Please note that the Scottish Dermatological Society is not responsible for information provided by other organisations.
